The innovative EPICS K-12 program, founded at Purdue University, has the capacity to fundamentally change how the world views engineering service-learning, and is already changing the equation with high percentages of high school females and minorities engaged in EPICS projects. By providing opportunities to bring students together with local not-for-profit agencies, both groups benefit. Students gain real world educational and design-based experiences and agencies gain technology to improve the services they provide.
